Our Year 6 pupils enjoyed a very special extended curriculum opportunity on Tuesday morning when volunteers from the South East Coast Ambulance Service visited WJS to deliver a practical and engaging ‘Restart a Heart’ workshop as part of our PSHE provision.
The children learned a range of essential life-saving skills, including how to perform CPR , with some very memorable singing along the way!
They also explored how defibrillators work and learned when and how they should be used in an emergency. We are so proud that the children once again approached every activity with enthusiasm and maturity, remaining fully engaged as they practised the different techniques.
It was wonderful to see them developing both their practical skills and their confidence, while gaining a greater understanding of how important it is to act quickly in an emergency. We hope that they came away feeling knowledgeable, confident and empowered. You never
know, perhaps one day a WJS pupil will put these important skills into action and help to save a life!
