On Wednesday (Wodensdaeg), Year 5 had a superb Creative Day based on their current history topic of Anglo-Saxons and Vikings. All of the children (and staff!) came dressed in a range of amazing costumes
(although to be honest some were a little scary!) The day was action packed with pagan and Christian themed jewellery making, creating a replica of the Sutton Hoo helmet and a treasure hunt to decode runes. To complete our creative medley, the day finished with an Anglo-Saxon court room drama where the guilty paid Wergild, or faced a nasty punishment. Everyone had great fun with different peers across our year group to learn lots of fascinating facts about life in the early part of the first millennium AD – it was definitely a memorable day for us all!
