On Tuesday and Thursday this week,  Year 4 were fortunate to begin the term with an action packed trip to Dapdune Wharf in Guildford.

Throughout the exceptionally busy day, linked to their topic work before the Easter break, the children learnt all about the River Wey, the Wharf itself, how it was used in the past and what measures are keeping it protected today by the amazingly knowledgeable staff and volunteers from the National Trust. Highlights included making our own rivers using the augmented reality technology, exploring a refurbished barge and carrying out scientific investigations using oranges!

Most importantly, the children thoroughly enjoyed seeing the learning that we have done in class come to life. The experience was also made even better as the sun remained shining and perhaps more importantly… we all stayed dry!
