Yesterday Year 3 pupils and staff travelled back in time to the Stone Age! From the moment the children arrived at school, dressed in their fantastic themed outfits, they were filled with excitement about the historical day of learning ahead. Firstly, the children researched key information about the creation of cave paintings to enable them to design and create their own masterpieces!
Next, the children worked collaboratively to investigate how Stone Age people counted! Also, everyone had the opportunity to become Iron Age jewellery designers; their original pieces included some designs with symmetrical patterns. Our Stone Age Quiz was another highlight of the day where the children applied their knowledge to answer a range of questions. The wealth of knowledge, understanding and skills the children built throughout the day is also excellent preparation for our trip to Butser Ancient Farm where we hope to impress the staff with our existing knowledge which we will inevitably build upon through this hands-on learning too! We will also be able to turn our jewellery designs into actual pieces as part of our visit. An action packed and memorable day was shared, well done to ‘Team Year 3’, it was fantastic to see you all so immersed in your learning whilst having fun!
