On Tuesday 11th February 2025, we celebrated Safer Internet Day. We began the event with a fantastic assembly led by our ever-enthusiastic Digital Leaders who introduced the theme for this year: ‘Too Good To Be True? Protecting Yourself and Others From Scams Online.’ To kick start our learning, we joined thousands of other children in a live lesson to learn what scamming is, signs of how it can be spotted and what phishing is. For the remainder of the day, each year group explored the dangers of scamming and phishing in creative ways: Year 3 played ‘Fish for the Phisher’ where they were equipped with their fishing rods and scamming spotter skills to identify where the crafty fishes were while Year 4 designed interactive games and shared them with other classes in the afternoon. Year 5 enjoyed working across the Federation with Year 2 putting their newly learnt computing skills to the test by editing images and playing Spot the Difference. Finally, Year 6 created adverts to help others recognise and respond to online scams. It was a fantastic day all around and was an excellent opportunity for us to remind ourselves of how to keep safe whilst online.
