On Tuesday the whole school took part in some exciting activities to celebrate Safer Internet Day 2019. The theme for this year is ‘Together for a Better Internet’. We began our day with a special assembly delivered by our fantastic Digital Leaders (pupils who are appointed to support ICT and Computing across the school). They did a great job of presenting some very important safety messages including how to deal with cyber-bullying. The Digital Leaders also explored the theme of ‘permission on-line’ during which they highlighted the dangers of sharing personal details when using the internet and in particular how companies or unknown individuals can store and use this information. There were also top tips about checking with parents, or trusted adults, to help understand potential dangers.
Some of the children’s curriculum time was dedicated to exploring this theme further within their classes. Activities included: discussion, roleplay, drafting safe conversations and answering questionnaires.
Most importantly, we hope that the key message about being very cautious when sharing any information on-line has been understood by all of our pupils!
