From the very moment the children arrived in all their finery our day was destined to be a very special one!
We have had a wonderful time celebrating the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. From Creative Day activities including making a card for Her Majesty (which we will of course send!) and finding out about her life and how Britain has changed and evolved during her 70 year reign, to a royal quiz and of course the highlight must have been the re-enactment of the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II complete with the Archbishop, singing of the National Anthem and a procession followed by a fun packed tea party with yummy treats and music from the seven decades of her reign.
So much fun was had by one and all! We also welcomed back Linda Rowe who fitted our Jubilee Wildflowers Work of Art created by every pupil at Westfields in our Reception. School Council then joined Linda and I to share the official unveiling! It looks amazing!
And the fun does not stop… for a fun half term holiday activity, every child has brought home a paper plate on which they can design a commemorative plate as part of a whole school competition. As a PAWS fundraising initiative, every entry requires £1 donation and the children will be given team points for their efforts and the year group winners will have the chance to paint their design on to a ceramic plate. Further details were shared in our quiz this morning and will be uploaded to ClassDojo but we hope we will be spoilt for choice and that the actual ceramic plates will also look wonderful on display in school.
