All of our Year 5 classes enjoyed a special treat this week with an afternoon STEM Session with one of our governors, Mr Ron Wilkes. The children enjoyed an action-packed practical session linked to our science curriculum. They investigated the basic principles of gears including: gear trains, compound gears, ratios, rotational speed as well as explored the importance of gears in real life contexts. The children completed a practical investigation which culminated in a collaborative effort to construct ‘The Impossible Machine’.
