On Wednesday, Year 5 had a wild time at Marwell Zoo. As part of their life cycle topic and their persuasive writing last term, we visited the zoo to see first hand some of the animals about which they wrote. The awe and wonder was evident as the children chattered like monkeys all of the way round! Highlights of the day included seeing five Amur tigers and two Amur leopards, which are critically endangered. Rhinos, giraffes, penguins and pygmy hippos all came out as best animals seen, but the cutest of all was the elusive red panda. The visit included a workshop about lifecycles with the children having the opportunity to stroke a rat and a very large stick insect. Everyone enjoyed their outdoor learning experience and we would also like to thank the parents who joined us on our fun packed day.
