Westfields Juniors V Potley Hill – Thursday 26th January
After school on Thursday 26th January 2023, Westfields were victorious in our first league match of the season against Potley Hill. After making the short journey to the away ground, our team worked together to score an impressive 9 goals with the match ending 9-0. The match started at a fast pace with the ball going from one end of the pitch to the other. However, before long, Westfields were able to retain possession and keep the ball in the opponent’s half. After a few minutes, Sam opened the scoring with a tenacious finish. Just before half time more goals from Sam and Lorenzo established a 4-0 lead. In the second half great commitment and stamina was shown by both teams who were focused and enjoying the opportunity to competitively play. The Potley Hill keeper managed to make some incredible saves but eventually the goals began to flow. By the end of the game, Lorenzo, who won player of the match, had scored 4, Sam had scored a hat-trick, and Harley and Sebastian netted one each.
At the full-time whistle, both teams shook hands and cheered for one another showing great sportsmanship and respect. The next match being played at Westfields is the reverse fixture with the girls’ team. Mr Frame, PE Co-ordinator and Coach
