WJS celebrated Empathy Day today as an opportunity for our children (and staff!) to think about our uniqueness, embrace our differences and encourage us all to prioritise kindness and thoughtfulness.
The intention of the day is to raise an empathy-educated generation through the powerful tool of reading. This year’s theme was Empathy, our Human Superpower and it focused on growing our empathy skills to be the best version of ourselves. Empathy is a skill that can be learned and what better way to teach it than using stories?
Following a special assembly with Mrs Courtney and Miss Campbell, each class shared some stories and completed a range of empathy activities. Not only was lots of fun had by all, some important skills were developed too!
There are also ongoing opportunities for you to get involved as a family too…there’s a free Family Activity pack, which we hope some of you will access.
