Headteacher’s Welcome
On behalf of the children, staff and governors, I would like to warmly welcome you to our Westfields Junior School Website. We hope you find the site clear and easy to navigate. It is designed to give you a glimpse of the exciting life of our school, the work of our pupils and the quality education we strive to deliver.
Westfields Junior School is a vibrant and thriving school with 360 pupils on roll. We have high academic and behavioural expectations of pupils that support our aim for the entire school community to “Unite – Inspire – Excel”.
We are an inclusive 21st century school with fantastic facilities that enhance teaching and learning for all pupils and include: flexible learning spaces, a well-resourced themed library, large hall, pupil support rooms, a nurture room and extensive grounds that include a tyre park, trim trail and castle play area. The school is well resourced, particularly in relation to our technology facilities (including our very own radio station!) and you will find our classrooms are hives of activity, full of creativity and learning, making Westfields a special place indeed for children to learn. We do our best to ensure all of our pupils are happy, enjoy and fully engage with their varied learning experiences and develop healthy attitudes to equip them for their future lives. Pupils are encouraged to positively contribute to our local community giving them experiences that enable them to develop problem solving and communication skills in real life contexts. Our curriculum has been developed to create opportunities for pupils of all abilities to achieve their best, develop their talents and interests, fulfil their potential academically as well as personally and progress confidently into the next phase of their education and beyond. This is particularly evident through our Respect Charter that is integral to our ethos.
Our partnerships with our families is highly valued and we pride ourselves on open communication. Parents are always welcome into school to discuss any matter, issue or concern. We have an open door policy so if you would like to make an appointment to speak to a member of staff, please contact the Main Office.
We hope that you will find our website to be useful and informative however, no amount of browsing can replace a visit to experience first-hand the atmosphere and culture of our school. If you are a prospective parent, please do not hesitate to contact us to make an appointment to see the school in action.
We look forward to welcoming you and your child(ren) to Westfields Junior School soon.
Miss Jo Redman
