As part of our PSHE provision, on Wednesday, our Year 6 pupils were fortunate enough to have the South East Coast Ambulance Service volunteers deliver an engaging and practical ‘Restart a Heart Workshop’. This extended curriculum opportunity where the children practised vital life-saving skills was a great success. The content of the sessions covered how to safely perform CPR (with some rather catchy singing!) and included leaning about how defibrillators work as well as when and how to use them in an emergency. The children were fully engaged throughout every step and showed great enthusiasm as they practised the various techniques. It was a fantastic opportunity for them to gain confidence and understand the importance of quick action in helping to save lives in an emergency situation. We sincerely hope everyone came away feeling well informed and empowered, maybe one day a WJS pupil will save a life!
