On Thursday, we had a truly fantastic time celebrating World Book Day with a plethora of literary delights! The national theme this year has been ‘Read your way’ and each year group explored a brilliant book to inspire our children with a love of reading: Year 3 enjoyed The Superhero Adventures of Marv, Year 4 went investigating with The Agents of the Wild, Year 5 met the Beast and the Bethany and Year 6 had a spooky time at Eerie-on-Sea with the Malamander! Throughout the day, the children engaged in a range of reading themed activities designed to ignite their passion for storytelling. We shared a special assembly and the children also had the opportunity to hear from their chosen author in a range of masterclass videos. Staff had all recorded extracts of some favourite books to provide an exciting Guess Who game which created plenty of healthy competition—some were definitely easier to recognise than others! The highlight of the day was our Cosy Federation Read wearing our pyjamas; each class was paired up with a class from the Infant School to share their favourite books – it was a joy to see how superbly they read to the younger children! We had a fabulous time celebrating our annual World Book Day!

Potato Character Competition…
We had an amazing 91 entries for our potato book character competition, bringing beloved literary figures to life in spud form. Well done to everyone who entered and was awarded team points and particular congratulations to our winners! School Council loved judging the entries but it was a very difficult task with such dazzling creations!
