Year 6 Fire Safety Workshop
Today, Year 6 took part in a very informative ‘Fire Safety Workshop’ from the Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service. All of the children learnt about the fire triangle and what elements start fires and how these accelerate or can be put out. As well as this, we looked at hazards in their homes and ways of preventing fires such as by not charging phones under pillows and keeping flammable substances in safe places. Excitingly, the children also demonstrated how to ‘Stop, Drop and Roll’ and to ‘Get Out, Stay Out and call 999’ in an emergency.
Finally, the children learnt about the importance of fire alarms and ensuring they are regularly tested – some of the children may ask you to test yours at home! It was extremely valuable in
supporting our children’s essential safety understanding.
